The Tarka Trail - 10 minute drive
Inspired by the route travelled by Tarka the Otter, this 180 mile, figure eight route traverses unspoiled countryside, dramatic sea cliffs and beautiful beaches. The southern loop incorporates the longest, continuous off-road cycle path in the UK. Walking or cycling, you can experience the best this beautiful area has to offer.

Woolly Animals Farm Park - 10 minute drive
Come and visit our farm park - it's not just for the kids, we're open every weekend and 7 days a week through the school holidays
Hand feed our animals, we have alpacas, llama, goats, sheep, donkeys, miniatures ponies, bunny rabbits.
You can cuddle rabbits in the bunny barn, learn about ducks and chickens, help milk goats, bottle feed animals (seasonal), meet the dogs and watch a sheepdog at work, help groom ponies - events throughout the day in main season.
Stafford Moor Fishery - 10 minute drive

Dartington Crystal - 10 minute drive
As the only remaining UK glass factory, Dartington Crystal Torrington is the true home of British glass making. Visitors can watch skilled glass makers in action, creating beautiful things from molten crystal. Suitable for all ages, the self-guided factory tour lets you see every stage of the making process at both shop-floor level and from special overhead walkways.
Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve - 20 minute drive
Rolling landscape, deep water filled lakes and beautiful views. A series of colour-coded trails allows access on foot, bicycle, horseback or mobility scooter. The Quarry adjoins DWT's existing nature reserve at Ash Moor and is adjacent to the Tarka trail for those wishing to explore the area. A three-mile Meeth Quarry Wild Walk acts as great introduction to the area.

Westward Ho! beach - 30 minute drive
A huge two mile sandy beach, stretching from the village centre to the rugged Northam Burrows Country Park. The flat golden sands are backed by a pebble ridge and the tide comes right in to the ridge at high tide. The sea here is popular with families and surfers - with a shallow gradient so you can stand up in the waves quite far out - making it pretty safe for families. There are lifeguards on duty between July 4th and September 27th from 10am until 6pm.
